Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is SureCare registered with the independent regulator of health and social care and national professional associations?

Yes, we are registered with the Care Quality Commission and are members of the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA).

What costs are involved?

If you request it, your local council’s social work team is obliged to perform an assessment of your care needs. If they agree that you need care, they will undertake a financial assessment, which will take your income and savings - but not the value of your home - into account and establish your eligibility to receive financial assistance from the state. Care can be funded in several ways. In many cases local councils and some Primary Care Trusts will pay all or part of the costs of care. In England and Wales people may be required to make a financial contribution to their package of care. The local council will provide the care themselves or purchase from a list of approved agencies. Alternatively, you or your family may choose to fund your care, without any state assistance. You may choose to use a local homecare agency or possibly employ someone yourself. However, if you employ your own care worker you should be aware of your potential obligations as an employer. You may also wish to enhance the range of services subsidised by your local council by purchasing extra help from an independent homecare agency.

VAT is not usually charged on homecare services. However, it is important to know whether any fees quoted by providers include VAT or not.

What charges, if any, will I be expected to pay?

This will be discussed with you and/or your family during our assessment of your needs.

What payment methods are available (cheque, direct debit etc)?

We accept cash, cheques, direct debit and bank transfers.

Is there a minimum charge if I only need a small amount of care?

Yes. Packages of care are individually tailored to individual needs and can range from half an hour per week to 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Which regions do you cover?

We have offices in many parts of the country and are working to increase the number of regions in which we can offer homecare services. Please see the Areas we cover page for a detailed map and contact your local office for more information about the services they offer.

Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes. You will need to sign an agreement regarding the service we will provide you and the terms of payments.

Who are your clients?

We provide services to older people, people with physical disabilities, those with mental health problems, people with dementia and a wide range of other services to all ages of the community with varying needs and requirements - please check with your local SureCare office for details.

SureCare offers its services to clients irrespective of their disabilities or impairments, race or ethnic origin, colour, religion or beliefs, sexual gender or orientation, marital status, and political affiliation.

What sort of training and qualifications do your staff receive before they start working and during their employment?

All our carers are CRB checked and fully trained. They receive regular supervisions and appraisals, annual mandatory training to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and continue to provide the highest quality care to all our clients.

How will you and your staff respect my privacy and dignity?

A robust induction training process was designed to ensure that all staff cover, understand and implement the basic principles of care to protect every client’s privacy and dignity.

Do your care workers undergo a criminal record disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau?

Yes. We need to check their records for the safety and protection of vulnerable persons.
